A fake snuffles, first time I see this one

The bigger snuffles in the middle, in light brown color, is actually a fake snuffles, but I think he is pretty much the best fake snuffles I have seen sofar.

The snuffles was part of an auction on ebay. Just wanted to show a different snuffles.

This is what the ebay posting said about the fake snuffles:

Light Brown / Tan 10" Faux Snuffle Bear. This is the best fake Snuffle Bear I’ve ever seen! He is super cute! The plush isn’t quite as soft, but it doesn’t look or feel cheap. His tag simply reads: All New Material Made in China Item No: 96103. He is in excellent condition.

I think he looks absolutely cute. Tebay auction will expire in about three months.

Hi, nice blog for snuffles. I came here after reading about it on the snuffles mailing list on Yahoo.

Sad to say, I honestly think that Gund has discontinued the line. There hasn't been a new Gund Snuffles release in years and I think the company is simnply going in another direction. I still keep an eye out for FAO exclusives and scan ebay but "good" snuffles are very rare now . . . a few times a year at most on Ebay.

I'm REALLY glad you somehow found and linked to Katy Fung's website. I had it bookmarked for a few years and then one day, the link came up dead.

I personally probably have one of the larger Snuffles collections out there. I have all the "rare" ones but am missing only the 20 inch Millenium from FAO and the 16 inch white Mohair version from FAO.

I think the Millenium 20 inch is attainable since I've passed on a few already that wasn't in mint condition on Ebay but I'm basically lost hope on the white Mohair version. Only saw it available once about 4 years ago and lost out.

Well, it's good to talk to another Gund Snuffles collector . . . believe it or not there aren't many of us out there anymore. For a former Oppenheimer winner and the BEST teddy bear ever made, these are sad times . . .

Keep up the great work and I'll check in occasionally . . .

Dennis,

thank you for your comment. As far as I know, Gund was sold to another company recently, not sure what is going on, FAO has been closing stores, and I cannot find new Snuffles anywhere. I am a collector like you, I think Snuffles is the best bear ever! It is so cute, and so durable. I bought my first snuffles in 1998 at FAO in Chicago, the store has been closed since. Still have him, not in new shape, because I loved him so much, but still looking good, a 20 inch tan Snuffles. I am looking for some of the rarer and big snuffles myself, hard to find, and most of the time, the condition is not good. You saw part of my collection on my blog, but I am sure, your collection must be huge. I would love to receive a photo of your collection and post it on my blog, if you do not mind. Email me at redsub@gmail.com. Thanks. Boris

I've been searching for the mint green snuffles bear for years. when i was a kid one of my childhood friends had one, but i never did. little did i know that it would become such a collector's item! i have searched on ebay many times and never found one. does anyone have any idea where to find one? i probably have close to 100, including the Millenium gund, but have always longer for the mint green one. Nice to know there are more people out there who appreciate the snuffles bears like i do.

Kimberlee,

I have posted a picture of a green snuffles a while ago, it sold for a huge amount of money:

I have no idea where to find one right now. Keep looking on Ebay. If I find one, I will email you. Shoot me an email at redsub @ gmail.com and then I can easily respond to you. Good luck.

Hello
I am trying to find a UPC, MPN or even a style number for my snuffles.
There is only one tag on it without any of the options that i am looking for on it. It is dated 1980 and is a tan color, approx. 10" tall.
